The great hornbill is well named; it's the largest member of the hornbill family. It weighs an average of seven pounds and stands two-and-a-half feet tall, with a wingspan at least as wide. In addition to its large casque, the bird has a huge down-curved bill, a black band across its mostly white tail, and a black patch of feathers around its face.   In addition to writing poetry, p’Bitek produced several books on Acholi culture. Some of his essays are collected in Africa’s Cultural Revolution (). The Horn of My Love () contains Acholi poetry in both Acholi and English, and Hare and Hornbill () is a collection of Acholi folktales that p’Bitek compiled and translated.

Hare and Hornbill, (translated from the Acholi by Okot p'Bitek) Song of Lawino & Song of Ocol, (reprint edition) Artist, the Ruler: Essays on Art, Culture, and Values, Including Extracts from Song of Soldier and White Teeth Make People Laugh on Earth, (foreword by Lubwa p'Chong).   Of the 32 hornbill species found in Asia, three are currently considered Critically Endangered with global extinction, according to IUCN criteria. One of those, the helmeted hornbill .

Happy Easter ! Took a while, but managed to put together a little list of books starring bunnies, rabbits & hares. Some are well-known classics, others are more modern. Rosemary Wells wrote many bunny books featuring Max & Ruby. Margaret Wise Brown also has many sweet little bunny books to her credit-I almost put in "Goodnight Moon".   Open Library is an open, editable library catalog, building towards a web page for every book ever published. Author of Wer pa Lawino, Two songs, Song of Lawino ; &, Song of Ocol, Hare and hornbill, The defence of Lawino, Lak tar, La chanson de Lawino, Acholi proverbs.
